Florida Tech Names Matt Padeway Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

 Brevard County • Melbourne, FL – Christina Hardman, Associate Director of Sports Communications at Florida Institute of Technology, announced the hiring of Matt Padeway as the new Assistant Director of Sports Communications.

“We’re excited to have Matt as part of our team,” Hardman said. “He will add a lot of talent and creativity to our department as we continue to grow our programs. We are excited to bring his skills and championship experience to Florida Tech.”

Padway will serve as the primary contact for Florida Tech’s women’s soccer, men’s basketball, baseball and esports programs.

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to start my career in Melbourne,” Padway said. “I hope to bring some of the championship experience I gained at Salisbury, both as a scholar-athlete and as a staff member, to Florida Tech! I can’t wait to start working with the athletic communications staff, coaches and scholar-athletes Cooperation! Come on Panthers!”

Padway comes to Florida Tech from perennial powerhouse Salisbury University, where he has been a graduate assistant in the university’s Sports Information Department since September 2021.

During his tenure at Salisbury, Padway served as the primary liaison for the Seagulls women’s soccer, men’s basketball and nationally ranked women’s lacrosse programs, while assisting 18 other varsity sports.

Padway’s day-to-day tasks include producing post-game press releases, compiling real-time stats, photo/video shooting and editing, graphic design, and promoting scholar-athletes on all social media platforms. He also worked on broadcast productions for the Seagull Sports Network, including live broadcasts and color commentary.

Additionally, Padway will serve as a volunteer assistant coach for the Salisbury Baseball team from August 2021 to May 2023, working primarily with catchers.

In the summer of 2022, Padway serves as the hitting/position coach for the New England Collegiate Baseball Keene Marsh Bats, where he oversees recruitment and development at multiple levels (DI, DII, DIII, JUCO). He is also a member of the home grounds maintenance staff and assists in daily scouting of opposing teams pitching/defense.

Padway was a Division III scholar-athlete and was a member of the Salisbury baseball team from 2017-2021. He helped lead the Seagulls to their first NCAA Division III national title in 2021. Padway ranks among the top 10 in program history in sacrificed bunts (21), defensive opportunities (810) and defensive strikeouts (711).

Padeway graduated from Salisbury in May 2021 with a BA in Communication Studies and a minor in Marketing Management, completing a Master of Education in 2023.
